Dr. Sarfaraz Sadruddin Will Care For Patients at The Rose Southeast
Houston, TX [July 30, 2020]– An interest in technology and engineering led Dr. Sarfaraz Sadruddin to recognize the importance of radiology and its role in medicine for new technology, devices and novel therapeutic treatments. This passion guided Dr. Sadruddin, better known as Dr. Raz, on his path to becoming The Rose’s newest diagnostic radiologist.
Dr. Sadruddin earned a Bachelor of Science in Bio-electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, later furthering his education at Chicago Medical School. During his residency, he wanted to combine direct facing patient care with technical imaging knowledge and breast imaging was the best amalgamation of those interests. The ability to provide immediate patient care together with guiding decision-making regarding breast cancer treatment made this work a great fit to The Rose’s team.
With a grandmother-in-law diagnosed with early advanced breast cancer, Dr. Sadruddin acknowledges how dangerous this cancer can be if not identified earlier. Personally, witnessing and diagnosing women as young as 25 deeply affects Dr. Sadruddin. He encourages patients with any specific history of breast cancer to be vigilant and visit with their physician on the best preventive path. He is eager to contribute to the mission of The Rose, and believes that this unique approach to care is something very few institutions can match.
In describing his experience working at The Rose, he said: “The Rose is focused on breast health. This single focus yields efficiency, effectiveness, and empathy throughout the organization. No one is distracted and when you have that you can deliver superior care. Work gets done fast, and there is no friction if new methodologies, procedures, services need to be implemented for patient care – this is harder to achieve at a big institution. The commitment at The Rose means we can make changes to meet any patient’s needs swiftly and with compassion,” said Dr. Sadruddin.
“We are so pleased to have Dr. Raz on our medical team!” said Dorothy Gibbons, CEO, “In addition to being fellowshipped trained in breast imaging and an excellent mammographer, he’s committed to patient education. His video messages have given our patients a sense of confidence and safety about making their appointments. As he says, this is not the time to delay screening, breast cancer is not going to wait until the pandemic is over.”
