Beth Gilliard and Bill Donovan Assume Board Position Roles at The Rose

Houston, TX [August 20, 2020] – Since 1986, the steadfast energy and commitment of community leaders has helped The Rose deliver premier breast healthcare services to women, regardless of their ability to pay, in the greater Houston community. Now, The Rose is excited to welcome two new board members: Beth Gilliard and Bill Donovan. “We are thrilled that Beth Gilliard and Bill Donovan will offer their time, knowledge, expertise, and talent to The Rose community,” says CEO and co-founder Dorothy Gibbons.

Beth Gilliard began working with The Rose ten years ago via her role at Texas Central Bank when she helped install its treasury management services. She had witnessed her sister and a few friends battle breast cancer, so when Board Vice-Chair Tom Watson invited her to help coordinate The Rose’s annual luncheon, she didn’t hesitate. “I was impressed by The Rose’s mission, care, and concern for women’s health. There is so much empathy and focus on patient care, and cost to the patient is not an issue.”

The professional expertise Gilliard brings to The Rose stems from over 35 years in treasury management services (TMS). “Because The Rose uses many of Texas Citizens Bank’s services, I understand their day-to-day operations, which will help me enhance patient and medical services. In today’s world the payments model is constantly changing; my goal is to keep The Rose abreast of these changes and how to implement them. I am honored to be a part of an organization that changes the lives of women and their families by offering them options and choices for care they might not otherwise have.”

Gilliard has a BS in Finance from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge. A proud mother to grown daughters Katie and Brooke, Gilliard has served on the Weekley Family YMCA Board and as treasurer for Pershing Middle School, the largest most diverse school in the Houston Independent School District.

Board member Bill Donovan learned about The Rose five years ago from a friend. After his wife Karen’s early breast cancer diagnosis through a routine annual mammogram and subsequent successful treatment, Donovan explains, “We were blessed to have insurance coverage and access to excellent care, but many in our community are not as fortunate, and The Rose becomes that blessing for them.”

Donovan brings a history of business expertise, military and volunteer service to the board member position at The Rose. He served three years in the U.S. Navy, worked in the trucking and warehousing business, and became president of Trammel Crow Distribution Company. His logistics company, Universal Terminal Warehouse Company, was headquartered in Houston. He is an active member and volunteer at St. John the Divine Episcopalian Church, where he helps with ESL classes and Bible Study Fellowship. Donovan has also served on the board of Life House Houston.

Houston residents for over 40 year, Donovan and his wife Karen raised their children Will and Jennifer here. In retirement, he has traveled to missions in Nepal, Bolivia, Russia, Honduras, Mexico, and Haiti. “Exposure to those in need around the world inspires me to help those in need closer to home. The Rose is a perfect place to use my managerial experience and be part of a local organization serving the needs of those less fortunate.”
